BRITISH HISTORICAL MEDALS, James Goodenough, Memorial Prize for Gunnery, 1878, a gold award medal by L.C. Wyon and F.P. Cockerell, bust left dividing cross and santa cruz, rev. stern of HMS Excellent, semi-draped female adjusts a naval gun below, GOLD, 69.73g, 48mm (BHM 3045; E 1661). Virtually as struck. Extremely rare in gold. Reverse with small edge nock. In red-brown original leather case. No sale in Coin Archives during the last 20 years. This specimen is currently the only one we are aware of.


Medal awarded to Cyril Fuller in 1894. Edge lettering: "ACTING SUB LIUTENANT CYRIL THOMAS MOULDEN FULLER R.N. 1894"


Admiral Sir Cyril Thomas Moulden Fuller, KCB, CMG, DSO (22 May 1874 – 1 February 1942) was a Royal Navy officer who served as Second Sea Lord and Chief of Naval Personnel from 1930 to 1932.

James Graham Goodenough (1830-75), b. Stoke Hill, Guildford, served in the Second China War and was present at the capture of Canton in 1857. He was serving as C-in-C Australia Station on HMS Pearl when, in a skirmish in the Santa Cruz islands, he was fatally wounded by a poisoned arrow
